No need for a new smartphone

I was looking for a new smartphone, but now I have realized that I should not.

After spending over 4.5 years with my old phone, I’ve come to realize that it meets almost all of my needs better than expected. Initially, I was searching for a portable device that fit a few specific criteria, but I found out that the thing I wanted is no longer available. This led me to question why I should change my device at all.

For the Camera? I rarely use my phone’s camera. I'm not a YouTuber in need of high-end video recording capabilities. For everyday video calls and other uses, the camera on my old phone performs adequately.

For a Better Screen? I can enjoy movies on my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 if I want a larger display. My phone’s screen is sufficient for web surfing and reading ebooks, which is what I use it for most.

For Improved Battery Life? Surprisingly, my phone’s battery life has exceeded my expectations. I charge it overnight for about 6 to 7 hours, and it lasts me until 7 PM with regular use and up to 9 PM with lighter use.

For Aesthetic Appeal? I initially thought my phone looked unattractive, but a simple white back panel wallpaper has dramatically improved its appearance.

I find that many of the new technologies, including AI features, are restrictive. As someone who values control over technology and the internet, I prefer not to rely on AI for basic functions. I can use the ChatGPT app when I want access to AI, rather than having it integrated into my phone.

Features like removing people from the background of photos don’t appeal to me. I’m not in a phase of life where this functionality is relevant, so I see no need for it.

I prefer written responses over interacting with voice AI assistants on a daily basis.

I have come to the state that at the end of the day, every device seems similar with some negetive and postive values which also do not matter a lot.

I will use it as long as it works well for me. I hereby stop my search for the new smartphone. But I know I will look or think for some concept phones that meet my demands. A few desires never die, neither shall they.

Have a good day.
